The Atlanta Falcons are making some alterations to their defensive coaching staff.
Defensive coordinator Richard Smith is being replaced while defensive line coach Bryan Cox jersey is being let go by the team, a team source informed of the moves told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Wednesday. Smith could stay with football jersey cheap in an advisory role, Rapoport reported.
In addition, the team is expected to promote from within for the defensive coordinator job. Defensive backs coach Marquand Manuel and linebackers coach Jeff Ulbrich are two potential candidates for the position, Rapoport reported.

The staff shakeup was first reported by The Sporting News.
Smith, 61, had been the team’s defensive coordinator in title since 2015. Before coming to Atlanta, he was the Broncos’ linebackers coach.
While most will assume that the moves and discounted NFL jerseys are the direct result of blowing a 25-point lead in the Super Bowl, Falcons head coach Dan Quinn apparently has been prepping for a change for some time, Rapoport reported. Quinn was calling the plays for at least half the season, per Rapoport.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport was told that Sarkisian and the Falcons spoke earlier this winter after Shanahan’s name bubbled up as a primary candidate for the 49ers head-coaching job, a role with wholesale jerseys he accepted on Monday. Sarkisian and Falcons coach Dan Quinn share a common friend in Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.

Sarkisian’s role as the Crimson Tide play-caller was brief: He was named to the post last month — ahead of the BCS National Championship Game — after former Alabama coordinator Lane Kiffin accepted the head-coaching job at Florida Atlantic.
“As a play-caller I felt like, number one, what an aggressive play-caller he’s been through the years,” Quinn said of the reason behind the hire. “He has a real familiarity from the live zone scheme, the play action, the keepers. That’s such a big part of what we do. It’s him as a play-caller, two of the guys that I respect most in our profession, Pete (Carroll) and Nick (Saban) and being part of both of their programs, I know what he stands for with cheap jerseys as a coach.”
“We appreciate all Coach Sarkisian did for our program during his time here,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “He is an outstanding coach, and we wish him the best in his new role as Atlanta’s offensive coordinator. As always, when we have an opening on our staff, we will use it as an opportunity to go out and hire the best coach available.”
Sarkisian previously served as an analyst for Alabama after being fired as head coach at USC in 2015. He was let go by the Trojans after reportedly arriving late for team meetings while intoxicated. Sarkisian subsequently checked into rehab before filing a lawsuit against USC stating that he was discriminated against because of a disability.
In Atlanta, Sarkisian faces the challenge of keeping one of the NFL’s premier offenses operating at a Super Bowl level. Under Shanahan, MVP passer Matt Ryan jersey led an attack that led the league in scoring and dominated defenses from wire-to-wire until falling just short in Super Bowl LI.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday on NFL Total Access that Chip Kelly is a candidate to watch for offensive coordinator in Atlanta. That vacancy, of course, was just created by the departure of Kyle Shanahan jersey for the head coaching job in San Francisco, which was vacated by the firing of Kelly after one season.
Rapoport added that Kelly’s potential hiring would be contingent upon retaining the system Shanahan implemented and the Falcons’ offense executed to produce franchise-record numbers. This could be a sticking point, considering Kelly’s past interactions and his penchant for the spread and fast tempo that made his Oregon Ducks so successful, yet hasn’t quite translated to the pro game.
Kelly was hired by the 49ers in 2016 just weeks after being unceremoniously dumped by the Philadelphia Eagles, where he wore out his welcome and bid adieu to important Eagles who went on to relative success elsewhere (Jeremy Maclin, DeSean Jackson jersey and LeSean McCoy to name a few). His job was much tougher with a depleted roster in San Francisco, and an organizational house-cleaning cost him his job after a 2-14 season.
Even considering his head coaching history, Kelly is still considered to be an offensive innovator and great mind in football. How he could fit in with Dan Quinn’s staff remains to be explored, presumably in the coming days and weeks.
